Re-Run 32. FC DIVA IN THE HEART OF TEXAS, “Starr,” BLF, Chris Johnson

Starr and Chris came back to the line for their rerun ...

LF - Straight to the area and the bird

SR - Came in right of the bale - got to the cover and turned for the bird

LR - Again she came in right and went straight to the bird!

SF - Crossed the pond and directly to her bird. Nice job!



Handle Re-Run 30. WHITEWATER’S KLONDIKE GOLDRUSH - DAWSON, “Dawson,” BLM, William Barstow

Dawson and Bill came back to the line at 11:46 am for their rerun

LF - To the fall area and he got his bird

LR - Straight to the fall area - turned in and scooped up his bird

SF - Line brought him under the arc - went past it and took a loop - came back in with several loops and then he was on to the bird

SR - Drove straight up the hill to the flyer fall area - was handled in and to the bird with several whistles  -took a little time to get the bird on this one







No-Bird 39. FC 3R’S SMOKE THERE’S FIRE, “Fire,” BLM, James Hurst

Fire and James came to the line at 11:45 am and had a No-Bird, they will be back in 6


38. FOGGY BOTTOMS I CANT RIDE HIM IN HERE, “Bones,” BLM, Adam Coleman

Bones and Adam came to the line at 11:36 am

SR - Straight to the bird - a quick stop to turn around and he got it

LR - Good line bringing him in under the arc - a few loops past the blind and then back to get his bird

SF - Line to the fall area and got this bird quickly

LF - Straight line to his bird!



Handle 37. FC-AFC HOORAY FOR HENRY, “Henry,” BLM, Marion Carey

Henry and Marion came to the line at 11:24 am

LF - Straight up to the fall area and his bird

SR - Circled the hay bale twice and then shot out deep and was handled back to the bird

LR - Drove the field right of the bale - cut left just behind and over to the left tree - back to the fall area and the bird. Very nice!

SF - Straight to it!



Handle 36. FC-AFC WAXLAKES DIME PIECE, “Jolene,” BLF, Deb Stukey

Jolene and Deb came to the line at 11:16 am

LF - Up and under the arc - back down for her bird

SF - Across the pond - deep of the fall area - worked her way back down to the bird

SR - Ran past the area - handled back to this bird

LR - Under the arc - stopped there and she got it!



33. FC-AFC TUCQUAN’S BEAUTY BEHIND THE MADNESS, “Bella,” BLF, Alvin Hatcher

Bella and Alvin came to the line at 11:08 am

LF - Good line out to the area and she got her bird quickly

SR - Good line to the fall area - a couple small loops and she was to her bird

SF - Hunted the area - a few loops deep - then in and under the arc to the bird

LR - Good line out - an area hunt to find her bird - she got it

29. FC-AFC LAIRD’S CYNFUL SEASIDE GAMBLE, “Betty,” BLF, Chris Parkinson

Betty and Chris came to the line at 10:46 am

LF - Under the arc - but not left enough - had a large loop around the guns and then back to the bale and the bird

SR - Right to the area and then the bird

SF - Hunted short left of the gunners - expanded the search to mid-field and got it!

LR - Wide right going out - pulled inwards and got a little deep - quickly adjusted herself and got her bird!



28. FC-AFC DRY CREEKS TRU BLU, “Trudy,” BLF, George Metka

Trudy and George came to the line at 10:36 am

LF - Cut far left corner of the pond - came in under the arc and drove to the deep bale - back to the closest bale and got her bird

SR - Around the right of the bale in the area - over to the left bale and then out to the bird

SF - Brief area hunt and she got it!

LR - Very nice job - out just right of the fall - got a little deep - but quickly came back and located the bird




** GUN CHANGE **

 Gun Change and Line Viewing at 10:26 am

27. FC-AFC WILL THE CIRCLE BE UNBROKEN QA2, “Wilma,” CLF, Mark Huffman

Wilma and Mark came to the line at 10:19 am

LF - Out under the arc - took a loop and came into the bird

SR - Straight to it!

LR - Line slightly wide of the bird - turned left and straight to it!

SF - Good line out - had a few loops and hunted short of the bird - but worked it out and got it



Pick-up 26. AFC JUST WATCH MY BUNS QA2, “Lacey,” YLF, Mike Moroz

Lacey and Mike came to the line at 10:03 am

LF - Clipped the corner of the pond on the left - hunted between 2 bales - hunted deep for a turn and then came back down below the lowest bale to locate her bird

LR - Hunted the right tree - moved to the bale and then right to the tree - expanded her hunt to the area deep of the bale and got her bird

SR - Cut the corner of the pond and headed up hill - was handled back down to the bird

SF - Very extended on hunt covering the hillside both high and low - handled - but the gunners had to come out to help - dog was picked up






Handle 25. FC-AFC BAYOU TECHE EXPRESS, “Ryan,” BLF, Lauren Hays

Ryan and Lauren came to the line at 9:50 am

LF - Through the water - nice angle across and up - 2 loops and she got it

SR - Out through the water in the left side of the pond - went very deep but turned around and came straight back down to her bird

LR - Up to the right side of the bale - took a few tight loops and she got it

SF - Nice line entering the water - came out a few feet upwind fo the bird and drove the hill - she was handled back down to this bird






24. FC-AFC RAZOR’S BUCKSHOT, “Shooter,” BLM, Larry Vaske

Shooter and Larry came to the line at 9:40 am

LF - Line under the arc - took one big loop back and left to the bird

LR - Good line slightly wide of the fall - took 2 small loops to get the bird

SR - Good line out - had a loop in the fall area around the blind and then was on to the bird

SF - Took a good line - had a tight loop to get his bird


Handle 20. AFC RIDGECREST’S JUST FOR A LARK, “Whimsy,” BLF, Betsy Broyd

Whimsy and Betsy came to the line at 9:32 am

LF - Good line under the arc - a couple loops slightly up the hill and then back to the bird

SR - Went straight to the bird - which was left - between the hay bales and she got it

LR - Drove deep and wide of the area - was handled back down and over to the bird

SF - Lined under the arc - took 1 loop in the area and came back over to find the bird



Handle 19. FC-AFC A RIVERS BREEZE BRINGS US FAITH, “Faith,” BLF, Wayne Carey

Faith and Wayne came to the line at 9:20 am

LF - Through the corner of the pond - drove the hill and ran a few yards past the area - turned and came back down to the bird

SR - Straight out - had a very tight hunt and scooped up his bird

LR - Out to the area - turned and got it on the run!

SF - Swam the pond on an angle towards the guns - turned right on the far shore - looked for it and then drove deep - handled back to the bird (her original line was just a few feet left of the fall)



Re-Run 9. FC-AFC SEASIDE’S MOGAN DAVID, “Mogan,” BLM, Rodger Williams

Mogan and Rodger came to the line at 9:10 am

LF - Up the hill - 1 turn short and then moved to the bird

SR - Out to the bale and the fall area - left bale - back to the fall area and the bird

LR - Going out very deep - wide left approach - went deeper still - all the way up the hill - way too deep - but he hunted his way back to the area and located the bird

SF - Out across the pond - straight to the fall area on this one - had a few quick turns and he grabbed his bird!



** CONDITIONS UPDATE **

The wind, which has been practically non-existent until this point today, has picked up now and there is some scent flowing for the dogs to catch "wind" of

Handle 18. FC-AFC HRK LEXINGTON, “Lexi,” BLF, Kathy Fregelette

Lexi and Kathy came to the line at 9:00 am

LF - Her line brought her to the fall area - had a small loop and got the bird

SR - Drove up the hill - took a big loop and then down the hill and had another loop short of the bird - a couple more loops left and then she was on her bird

LR - Good line to the area - had a loop in the area and located her bird

SF - Line brought her right of the flyer guns - but she kept driving up the hill - she was handled back down and to the bird with several whistles



Handle 17. AFC CLAREMORE’S LIGHTNING FLASH, “Flash,” BLF, David Pichotta

Flash and David came to the line at 8:49 am

LF - Line brought her in under the arc - drove up the hill and then back down in the direction of the short flyer guns - she was handled to this bird

LR - Line out was wide right - she kept running up the hill and then hunted with many loops deep and left and then finally back in and back to the bird

SR - Drove almost to the top of the hill past the short retired area - then came all the way back with a loop in front and then on to the bird

SF - Straight to the bird



16. FC-AFC BIG RIVER CHARLIE II, “Charlie,” BLM, Jim Rickoff

Jim and Charlie came to the line at 8:40 am

LF - Took the pond - worked between both hay bales - came down even lower to search - back up and he got it!

SR - Worked deep of the area, but came back down for the bird

LR - Went out under the arc and he got it!

SF - Crossed the pond - worked the area and he located his bird



Double Handle 13. AFC HARDCORE TROUBADOR, “Earl,” BLM, John Russell

Earl and John came to the line at 8:29 am

LF - Smack! Straight line -  took the pond route out and back

SR - Skimmed the left edge of the pond - went right of the hay bale - went deep and was handled to the fall area and then the bird

LR - Drove out deep of the area - was handled back to this bird

SF - Went a little deep and then came back down to his bird

Double Handle 12. FC-AFC HUNTLEIGH’S QUINTESSA, “Tessa,” BLF, Bruce Ahlers

Tessa and Bruce came to the line at 8:17 am

LF - A few loops to the right and left in the area - then over to his bird

SR - Out to the area but ran deep and was handled back to the SR bird

LR - Hunted the area with many loops left and deep and then came in to the right - continued hunting and located his bird

SF - Drove deep past the area and was handled back down to the bird




Double Handle 11. AFC SKYWATCH HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER, “Traveler,” BLM, Ray Vreeland

Traveler and Ray came to the line at 8:08 am

LF - Went deep with a few loops farther up the hill - then down the hill and had a couple loops before the fall area - moved on the the fall area and the bird

SF - Good line but drove deep and was quickly handled back to the SF bird

SR - Drove deep again and was quickly handled to the SR bird

LR - Good line out - had a couple loops in the fall area but was quickly handled again when he left the area.




No-Bird 9. FC-AFC SEASIDE’S MOGAN DAVID, “Mogan,” BLM, Rodger Williams

Mogan and Rodger came to the line at 8:04 am and had a No-Bird, they will be back after 6

Double Handle 8. FC IRONMAN QA2, “Stark,” BLM, Cindy Huff

Stark and Cindy came to the line at 7:51 am

LF - Bird landed outside the cover by the lower bale - came in and had an excellent tight hunt around the bale and got it!

SR - Cut the corner of the pond - going deep - stopped and handled back to this bird

LR - Out the area - had a tight hunt and got it

SF - Headed towards the gunners tent - was handled to this bird



Handle 7. FC ROCKY’S IN THE PARK HOMER, “Hustle,” BLM, Mark Medford

Hustle and Mark came to the line at 7:44 am

LF - Line straight to the fall, turned his body around a couple times and got his bird

SF - Line brought him under the arc, took two loops in the area to get the bird

SR - Good line out but drove deep - took 1 loop moving up the hill - was immediately handled to the bird

LR - Straight to the fall area - turned around and got the bird



6. AFC YOOPER’S BLACK ICE, “Ice,” BLM, William Tidd

Ice and William came to the line at 7:34 am

SR - Ran deep and near the top of the hill with a couple large loops - then ran down the hill to the bird

SF - Straight to the bird

LF - Straight to the fall area - turned around and scooped up his bird

LR - Line was just outside the arc - made a couple loops left - a loop to the right and he got it!

2. FC-AFC HIGH ROAD ABE, “Abe,” BLM, Randi Johannis

Abe and Randi came to the line at 7:25 am

LF - Beautiful line - cut the corner of the pond and straight to the unmoved area and his bird

SR - Out to the hay bale - looped to the left bale and right out to the bird

LR - Straight to the area and continued deep  - turned back to the fall area and located his bird

SF - Looking left - headed towards the guns and drove a little deep - realized he was going the wrong way and turned and got his bird on the run!


5th Series Test Dogs - Day 2

Our single test dog up this morning was Morgan with handler Tom Hawley .... Morgan came to the line at 7:07 am

LF - He came up to the area with cover - worked just left of the fall area and then quickly went back and got his bird

SR - Straight to it!

LR - Out to the area behind the hay bale and just over the ridge keeping it out of sight - got it great job!

SF - Crossed the pond and drove a little wide right and then back for his bird

Good Morning - Day 5

Good Morning Everyone!! Welcome back for the 5th day of the 2025 National Amateur Retriever Championship 🎉

This morning we are continuing the 5th series of this event at the Lucy Too Property. A single test dog will run and we will be off to the running order to complete this test! (starting with Dog #2)

Weather this morning has created beautiful lighting on the birds. We are starting us out with mostly clear skies, little to no breeze and temps currently at 65 degrees. Today has an expected high around 80 degrees this afternoon with mixed and variable wind. As usual, we will keep you all posted! So stay tuned as we prepare to resume this 5th Series!

We have 49 dogs left to run in this series today before we move on to the 6th.
