3rd Series Recap

Sunday June 15 – Monday, June 16, 2025

3rd Series – Water Triple with 2 Retired

97 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs started out this series on Saturday morning at 7:13 am, beginning with "Morgan," handled by Tom Hawley and then "Fancy," handled by Dave Kress.

The first running dog of this series was #34 FC-AFC HIGH PEAK’S AMERICAN SNIPER, “Kyle,” with handler Justin Aimone. They came to the line at 7:43 am on Sunday morning.


The weather at the start of this series was 59 degrees with cloudy skies and a light breeze coming from the East. Monday morning when we finished up the series the weather was much the same.

Here is how things turned out for the 3rd Series …

Our last running dog for this Series was dog #33 
FC-AFC TUCQUAN’S BEAUTY BEHIND THE MADNESS, “Bella,” with handler Alvin Hatcher. They completed the test at 12:33 pm.

97 dogs were sent from the line in this series, taking a total of 15 hours and 32 minutes, which averages out to be a little over 9.5 minutes per dog. 

We will be moving on to the 4th Series shortly! Callbacks to come here on the grounds of the 3rd Series - we will post them on the blog as soon as we have them!

33. FC-AFC TUCQUAN’S BEAUTY BEHIND THE MADNESS, “Bella,” BLF, Alvin Hatcher

Bella and Alvin came to the line at 12:26 pm

F – A few loops and she got the bird

MR – Caught the left corner of the pond - drove the hill to the mound - came in behind and quickly got her bird.

RR – Out into the middle of the channel -swam past the island and went in front of the holding blind and then straight to her bird!


32. FC DIVA IN THE HEART OF TEXAS, “Starr,” BLF, Chris Johnson

Starr and Chris came to the line at 12:20 pm

F – Out to the fall area and a couple quick turns and she had it

MR – Ran up the left side of the line - a small hunt in front of the mound and over the top to get her bird.

RR – Down the channel - angled left - over the point and back in the water - great line crossing the islands - got wide right and then deep but she worked it out and got her bird.


Someone was excited for her turn to run this test!

31. FC-AFC FORD’S GLIDE BY, “Clyde,” BLM, Jack Sheets

Clyde and Jack came to the line at 12:10 am

F – Clyde was reheeled as the birds were being shot. After being sent he hunted left and right - had several large loops under the arc and to the left - then he came back in and got the bird.

MR – Went out by land and got the bird with a direct line.

RR – Good line through the water and a few loops on land to the left and to the right of the tree - then he was on to his bird.





30. WHITEWATER’S KLONDIKE GOLDRUSH - DAWSON, “Dawson,” BLM, William Barstow

Dawson and William came to the line at 12:02 am

F – To the area and 3 quick - short loops to the bird.

MR – Wide left on land and took 3 loops left of the mound and then back over to the mound and got the bird.

RR – Good line in the water and land and then he went straight to the fall and his bird!



29. FC-AFC LAIRD’S CYNFUL SEASIDE GAMBLE, “Betty,” BLF, Chris Parkinson

Betty and Chris came to the line at 11:54 am

F – Perfect

MR – Out to the front of the mound and moved right - went around the bushes to the bird.

RR – Down the channel - out on the left point into the lunging water - swam to the island - up and over - swam to the land up and back in and then out again on a perfect line to the bird.




28. FC-AFC DRY CREEKS TRU BLU, “Trudy,” BLF, George Metka

Trudy and George came to the line at 11:44 am

F – Perfect line to the bird!

MR – Ran high on the hill  - got to the mound and turned right - 1 loop at the brush and then to the gap and her bird.

RR – Down the middle of the channel - started to angle left - lunging water off the point - across to the island over the next point - drove straight to her bird.








27. FC-AFC WILL THE CIRCLE BE UNBROKEN QA2, “Wilma,” CLF, Mark Huffman

Wilma and Mark came to the line at 11:35 am

F – Straight to the bird

MR – Into the first water and then on land - left slightly - up the hill - then straight to the fall area and her bird.

RR – Good line through the water and on land - a loop or two around the tree and then on to the bird.





Handle 26. AFC JUST WATCH MY BUNS QA2, “Lacey,” YLF, Mike Moroz

Lacey and Mike came to the line at 11:25 am

F – Good line out - made a few loops left and right and then back to the bird and got it!

MR – Good line - through the corner of both pieces of water and continued with this great line on land directly to her bird.

RR – Her line out took her through the water further left of the middle bird - kept heading left on land and was immediately handled all the way to the RR bird.






25. FC-AFC BAYOU TECHE EXPRESS, “Ryan,” BLF, Lauren Hays

Ryan and Lauren came to the line at 11:11 am

F – A few quick turns and she got it!

MR – Into the channel and out on the left side - crossed the point and into the cove - up and out of the water and hunted in front of the mound left and right and then over the top to get her bird.

RR – Up the middle of the channel to the island - back in the water and out - she went straight to her bird.





Handle 24. FC-AFC RAZOR’S BUCKSHOT, “Shooter,” BLM, Larry Vaske

Shooter and Larry came to the line at 11:00 am

F – Excellent!

MR – High on the hill to the left of the mound - circled behind and then got the bird!

RR – Into the center of the channel - angled left into the water - over the point and off to the left - into open water and turned left between the 2 marks - kept going left - a great whistle and the dog was handled to the RR bird.





** CONDITIONS REPORT **

 Wind has picked up a bit here now and it is now blowing directly into the handlers faces.

Handle 22. FC-AFC BLACK LABS MATTER II, “Brody,” BLM, John Schneider

Brody and John came to the line at 10:48 am

F – Quick flyer retrieve!

MR – Into the water - over the point and to the island - Took a hard left in the water and went to land and ran to the Middle Retired bird.

RR – In the channel - his line was left of his previous line out - headed left on land toward the MR again - handled immediately and was handled all the way to the RR bird.




Handle 21. AFC LONE STAR’S RAMBLIN RANDY, “Randy,” YLM, David Graf

Randy and David came to the line at 10:37 am

F – Straight to the bird!

MR – Good line through the water and then onto land - had a few big loops left and right of the big tree before going back to the fall area and locating his bird.

RR – Made a loop around the mound but missed the bird and went left and deep - was handled to this bird.








** ANNOUNCEMENT **

Pizza on grounds today. Will be ready to sell at 11:00 am!!



20. AFC RIDGECREST’S JUST FOR A LARK, “Whimsy,” BLF, Betsy Broyd

Whimsy and Betsy came to the line at 10:28 am

F – Straight to her bird!

MR – Very wide left going up the hill - made a loop deep left and then came right and down to the mound, through the gap and found her bird.

RR – Down the center of the channel to the island - over the island and back in the water - out to the shore and went right of the mound for a loop behind it and then out to her bird.

 Wind has shifted to be about 7 mph from the SSE now
