10th Series – Water Quad with 2 Flyers and 2 Retired Birds

13 Dogs Were Called Back to run this Series

After the test was set up, Test Dogs began the Series this morning at 7:50 am, beginning with "Fancy," with handler Dave Kress and then "Morgan," with handler Tom Hawley.

The first running dog for the 10th series was #24 FC-AFC RAZOR’S BUCKSHOT, “Shooter,” with handler Larry Vaske at 8:59 am.

The weather this morning started out warm and party cloudy, but a storm quickly moved in and caused high winds and a rain delay until noon. When we resumed the test temps were reaching into the low 90's with partly cloudy skies and winds around 10-13 mph.

Here is how things turned out for the 10th Series…
No-Bird / Re-Run (1): 28
Handles (1): 70 – 103
Double Handles (1): 1 – 9 – 16
Pick-Ups (1): 38
Broke (1): 94

Our last running dog for this series, and this National event was #16 FC-AFC BIG RIVER CHARLIE II, “Charlie,” with handler Jim Rickoff. They completed the test this afternoon at 3:28 pm.

There were 14 dogs sent from the line in this series, taking a total of 3 hours and 49 minutes, which averages out to a little over 17.5 minutes per dog. 

The 10th Series was officially in the books at 3:28 pm! We will find out who the Finalists are and who the Winner of the 2025 National Amateur is very soon – Stay Tuned!

9th Series – Land Triple

21 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs started out this series on Friday afternoon at 7:15 am, beginning with "Fancy," handled by Dave Kress and then "Morgan," handled by Tom Hawley.

The first running dog of this series was #82 FC-AFC LABRADOR SPRINGS BLACK TIE AFFAIR, “Tux,” with handler Jack Gwaltney, III. They came to the line at 2:49 pm and had a No-Bird.


The weather to start this series was around 82 degrees with mostly sunny skies and a light wind at 8-10 mph coming from the South.

Our last running dog for this Series was a rerun for dog #77 
FC-AFC BENTWATER’S PERFECT STORM, “Hailee,” with handler Steve Helgoth. They completed the test at 5:43 pm.

21 dogs were sent from the line in this series, taking a total of 2 hours and 56 minutes, which averages out to be a little over 8 minutes per dog. 

We will be moving on to the 10th Series Tomorrow to find out who our 2025 National Champion will be!

8th Series – Water Blind

21 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs kicked off the 8th series on Friday morning at 10:22 am, beginning with "Fancy," handled by Dave Kress and then "Morgan," handled by Tom Hawley. Handlers got a good look at the test they would be running shortly.

The first running dog of this series was #54 FC-AFC CLARENCE RUTHERFORD, “Lumpy,” with handler Jim Horneck. They came to the line at 10:48 am on Friday morning.


The weather at the start of this series was nearing 80 degrees with partly cloudy skies and 10 mph breeze.

This was a quick Water Blind Series so there is not much to report ...

Our last running dog for this Series was dog #52 
FC-AFC DAYS END BOY NAME SUE QA2, “Sue,” with handler Mark Medford. They completed the test at 12:10 pm.

21 dogs were sent from the line in this series, taking a total of 1 hour and 22 minutes, which averages out to be a just about 4 minutes per dog. 

We will be moving on to the 9th Series!

7th Series – Water Triple with 2 Retired

49 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs kicked off the 7th series on Thursday morning at 10:26 am, beginning with "Morgan," handled by Tom Hawley and then "Fancy," handled by Dave Kress. And Friday morning we had a single test dog to give a fresh look at the test before we finished up this series.

The first running dog of the 7th series was #27 FC-AFC WILL THE CIRCLE BE UNBROKEN QA2, “Wilma,” with handler Mark Huffman. They came to the line at 11:12 am on Thursday morning.


The weather at the start of this series was nearing 80 degrees with mostly clear skies and a light breeze. Friday mornings weather started in the upper 60s with party cloudy skies and a little bit more wind.

49 dogs were sent from the line in this series, taking a total of 9 hours and 57 minutes, which averages out to be a little more than 12 minutes per dog.

6th Series – Water Mark with a Blind and an Honor

50 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs kicked off the 6th series late Wednesday afternoon at 5:02 pm, beginning with "Fancy," handled by Dave Kress and then "Morgan," handled by Tom Hawley. The handlers got a good look at what this test will include. A single test dog ran on Thursday morning.

The first running dog of this series was #98 FC-AFC IZZY GITTIN’ BIZZY, “Izzy,” with handler Jim Horneck. They came to the line at 5:35 pm on Wednesday afternoon.


The weather at the start of this series was near 81 degrees with cloudy skies and a 4-6 mph wind.

5th Series – Land Quad

71 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs kicked off the 5th series on Tuesday afternoon at 12:50 pm, beginning with "Morgan," handled by Tom Hawley and then "Fancy," handled by Dave Kress. And Wednesday morning we had a single test dog to give a fresh look at the test before we finished up this series.

The first running dog of this series was #76 FC-AFC TRUMARC’S WEST POINT, “Army,” with handler Sylvia McClure. They came to the line at 1:25 pm on Tuesday afternoon.


The weather at the start of this series was nearing 80 degrees with cloudy skies and a light breeze. Wednesday's weather was much the same.

71 dogs were sent from the line in this series, taking a total of 12 hours and 45 minutes, which averages out to be a little more than 10 minutes per dog.

4th Series – Water Blind

77 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs kicked off the 4th series on Monday afternoon at 1:30 pm, beginning with "Fancy," handled by Dave Kress and then "Morgan," handled by Tom Hawley. Tuesday morning we had a single test dog to give a fresh look at the test before we finished up this series.

The first running dog of this series was #55 FC-AFC CLOONEY’S SEASIDE APOSTLE, “Creed,” with handler Derek Smith. They came to the line at 2:01 pm on Monday afternoon.


The weather at the start of this series was nearing 80 degrees with cloudy skies and a light breeze. Tuesday morning when we finished up the series the weather was partly cloudy with temps around 70 degrees.

Test Dogs started out this series on Saturday morning at 7:13 am, beginning with "Morgan," handled by Tom Hawley and then "Fancy," handled by Dave Kress.

The first running dog of this series was #34 FC-AFC HIGH PEAK’S AMERICAN SNIPER, “Kyle,” with handler Justin Aimone. They came to the line at 7:43 am on Sunday morning.


The weather at the start of this series was 59 degrees with cloudy skies and a light breeze coming from the East. Monday morning when we finished up the series the weather was much the same.

The weather to start this series was 54 degrees with overcast/cloudy skies and a light breeze coming from the East.
